Marilyn with The Dukes of Destiny

Why Marilyn's Music Scene?
Good question... Well the truth is, deep down inside of me burning to jump out on stage is the soul of a musician. Unfortunately, one that has no real musical talent. Okay, so I can dance and a play a mean shaker (those that have seen me in action can attest to this--I hope), but I'll never be up on stage.
So I became a groupie for one local band, that grew into two then three. First, and always foremost, The Dukes of Destiny captured my soul in 1991, then The Randy Lippincott Band and Zydeco-a-go-go came into my life in the late 90's. There is a lot of crossover in these three bands--many of the members play in each other's bands. The latest edition is Mike Guldin's Rollin' & Tumblin'--Memphis style blues that just rocks my soul.
As a natural born pr/promoter, I found myself morphing into a self-appointed (pro-bono) marketing person for the bands. Then in 2004 I actually took a stab at recording, as the executive producer of the Dukes of Destiny's CD entitled "3".
As a regular at the Tuesday night Blues Jam Session at Warmdaddy's, which the Randy Lippincott Band hosts, I grew to know many more local muscians.
It just seemed like the next logical step was to pull a website together to celebrate all of the music I love and musicians I call family.
So that's the story...one which I hope continues to grow.
